Fly-Out - Longside, Peterhead
Sunday 26th April 2015
10.30am for 11.00am Departure
We're going to have a crack at flying out to Buchan Aero Club up at Longside Airfield (a small tarmac airstrip on an old air base west of Peterhead). The folk at Buchan Aero Club are very friendly and always pleased to welcome visitors so this should be a fun day out to a part of the country to which you may not have flown very often.
As a backup option, we'll keep Oban up our sleeves ..... it really depends on what the weather's like on the day.
Fly-outs are a great opportunity to meet new club members and even get to fly in a type of aircraft different to what you normally fly and the trip up will involve by-passing the Aberdeen Zone in an interesting manner, if previous flights up there are anything to go by.
The plan is to meet at Fife at 10.30am, sort ourselves out in terms of who's flying in what aircraft and then get in the air as soon as possible.
if you've never been much further than Largo Bay, this will be a great opportunity to see what flying cross country is about. Whether you're a PPL or student, we'll try our best to sort out seating arrangements to accommodate those wishing to come along!
So, if you’d like to come along .....
Places on these trips are dependent on there being sufficient aircraft, pilots and spare seats available therefore we’ll put a Booking Sheet up on the notice board in the portacabin at Fife.
If you’re a pilot and would like to fly at least one leg (i.e. there or back) please add your name to the “Pilot” column. Alternatively, if you’d prefer to come as a passenger, please add your name to the “Passenger” column.
Once we know how many aircraft & pilots we have, we’ll confirm seating availability on a “first come, first served” basis (sorry but it’s just not possible to sit extra people outside on the wings ... it causes too much drag!).
