Club Fly-Out - Longside, Peterhead
Saturday 14th April 2012
We're planning a fly-out to Longside Airfield, near Peterhead on Saturday 14th April. Longside is a small (tarmac) strip on an old air base to the west of Peterhead.
Fly-outs are a great opportunity to meet new club members and even get to fly in a type of aircraft different to what you normally fly and the trip up will involve by-passing the Aberdeen Zone in an interesting manner, if previous flights up there are anything to go by.
Whether you're a PPL or student, we can usually sort out seating arrangements to accommodate those wishing to come along. Craig & David have reserved the Tayside Aircraft for the day so if you're a student who's got the length of studying Navigation, why not use this as a chance to fly somewhere slightly different? If you haven't got to the Nav bit of the course, the trip is a chance to see how getting yourself around the country isn't quite as daunting as you might think!
At Longside itself, there's a small canteen on site but catering may only stretch to a cup of tea and a bun - when we have a better idea of numbers we could consider taking disposable barbecues and burgers, although Longside might lay on sausage rolls if we give them enough warning.
The plan is to aim for a 11.00am take-off and return ..... whenever!
