Club Night - Navigation Briefing
Thursday 7th March 2013
Doug Allen will be delivering a briefing on basic navigation technique for beginners and refreshers alike. We will start the evening with a curry from the Tipsy Nipper which will be served at 6pm.
Bring chart, ruler, protractor, pens, flight computer (CRP1 or similar), nail polish remover (to clean pen off charts) and a one pence piece (for marking turning points !). Basic competency with the flight computer is expected eg. How to work out heading and ground speed given track/TAS/wind. We will plan a leg from A to B, covering flying technique, fixes and regaining track. If time allows, I'll also cover diversions.
This is flying by "dead reckoning". No GPS !
There will be a nominal charge of just £5, which will cover the curry and the briefing - drinks will be at your own expense.
